Friends Provident

Friends provident is a leading UK financial service provider and a member of the FTSE100 index. As one of the first companies to provide life insurance, dating all the way back to 1832, Friends Provident has two core businesses.

The Life and Pensions business has marketed a broad range of Life Insurance, Critical Illness cover, Income protection cover, Unemployment cover and Pension products in the UK, throughout Europe, Asia and the middle east and, from 2005, incorporates the Luxemburg based company Lombard International.

The Asset Management business - F&C Asset management Plc - recorded managed funds of some £131 billion (as of 31 st December 2005) and markets a wide range of investment products to personal and institutional customers.

Friends Provident was founded on high principles, to alleviate the hardship of families facing misfortune, and throughout 2005 paid out some £12 million every working day, mainly through maturity proceeds or to people in retirement.
